Russell and the Bell

The inscription on the church bell reads "Presented to the Old School Presbyterian Church, Sherman, Texas, by Zenas E. Ranney, July 4, 1893......".  Russell Jordan  born in 1920 and no doubt as a pre-teen or teenager Russell first became acquainted with the church bell by tugging on the rope that was used to ring bell under close supervision. When the bell was automated Russell continued to maintain the bell and give tours to youth of the church giving the history. A lightening strike several years ago disabled the bell and Russel too crippled to bring the bell "back to life " and today the bell is still dormant. It will take about $14,000.00 put the bell back in top automated condition. When the Church Bell rings again Russell will be present in sprit.
